Hear Me Now presented mase J in his first live show, at the maypole, and this is how it went down.
Rapper and singer-songwriter, mase J celebrated the release of his first EP “Hello World” back in November 2021. The London based rapper, took to the stage in his hometown, Derby, and raised the roof with his innovative lyrics and contagious energy.
Featured and supporting acts, from Derby and Nottingham, included: Izø, NHA Boogz, Beanskin, TippyvsHumanity and Jayahadadream. Each artist brought to the stage a different and captivating vibe but the energy of the audience was maintained throughout the whole night.
The talented artist, under Hear Me Now Management, performed for over an hour to the lively crowd – which nearly reached the venues full capacity of one hundred and fifteen guests.
Feedback from the audience and the Maypole’s owner – Donna Briscoe-Greene – painted the picture that this was the most successful live show with young talent taking centre stage seen, in not just The Maypole but, Derby itself.
Main act, mase J, gifted the listeners with a number of ‘sneak peaks’ as to what is to come in his upcoming releases; such as ‘Double R’ scheduled to come out Spring 2022.
With the crowd chanting for an encore, the show was closed with mase J’s single “INNIT”, which is arguably one of his best known songs, reading from how the supportive audience sang the song word by word back to the emerging artist. The concert ended, half an hour past midnight, with DJ’s Legrand Papii and DJ Eza playing the audience out – resulting in the MC (Tee.Mlauzi) getting the crowd members dancing and laughing the night away.
When speaking to the headlining act, mase J, after the show he exclaimed “I had faith that it would be a successful night, but I didn’t think it would be this successful.” Audience members commented on the tucked away venue and how events like these are “the hidden gems in Derby”. Rapper and doorman for the night, Mr Supreme, pointed out that “this is exactly what Derby needs” and explained how there is so much talent that needs amplifying with events as such.
Hear Me Now couldn’t be more thrilled with the first live event and is anticipating many more to come.
