Jess1, our latest addition to the Hear Me Now team, joined us in October 2023. This versatile and gritty rapper, from Derby in the East Midlands, began writing and performing when he was just thirteen. with the influence of attending the UK’s only Hip Hop school – Baby People.
Although Jess1 has eighteen years of writing experience under his belt, he truly began to take his presence in the music scene seriously when he released his track “5 on it’ with P110 reaching over 39,000 views. Since then, Jess1 has released music onto major platforms like GRM Daily, has featured on DJ Limelight and was presented by international Grime Artist, Eyez, onto a TooGoodForTV series.

Having faced real struggle growing up in Derby, Jess1 uses his music to reflect on his past. In his youth, gang culture was a daily influence, growing up in a deprived area; he then compares this to now – having turned his back on that lifestyle.
In this artist’s personal life, he actively works to deter young people from the life of crime through working on youth offender programmes, mentoring and getting young boys and men into the boxing gym and off the streets.
Jess1 is well known in his hometown of Derby and is now making waves on a wider scale with bookings in London, Reading and Nottingham and working with producers on a national level.
